Iqbal Colony Indra Nagar locality reels under acute water shortage
SRINAGAR: Residents of Iqbal Colony Indra Nagar Sonwar are up in arms against the Public Health Department (PHE) for pushing them to brink by depriving them of drinking water in the months of summer.
The locals who staged a protest in the Colony told news agency Kashmir News Trust that they are facing severe shortage of potable water for last 3 months.
“We are using tube well water for consumption. We have been requesting the higher ups to redress our major concern but they have been pushing us from pillar to post without any resolution,” said an elderly man.
“Other localities receive constant supply of potable water while we at Iqbal Colony Indra Nagar are being deprived of drinking water for frivolous reasons known to PHE officials,” they said and sought intervention of Chief Engineer Public Health Engineering Department. (KNT)
