JAMMU: Leadership of Jammu Muslim Front has criticized the new excise policy of the government and termed it a breeding ground for social evils.
The Front said that the new excise policy will turn Jammu from city of temples to city of drunkards.
“Why govt is allowing these shops to operate near religious places and even schools are not spared. Government has ignoring public outcry and are allowing liquor shops to get established everywhere in Jammu,” Chairman Jammu Muslim Front Shujah Zafar said in a statement to Kashmir News Trust.
He said people of Jammu don’t need such income which will ruin the culture and make the society replete of drug addicts.
The statement further said people of Jammu want that status of Jammu as city of temple should not be tempered just to generate revenue by ignoring public interest.
Leadership of the Front has appealed to people especially those who have rented their shops should take back those shops to save Jammu from this social evil.
He said people of Jammu should get united to fight against this menace and restore the pristine glory of this city. (KNT)
