Militant killed in pre-dawn fight in Budgam’s Wagoora

Sources said that slain militant had joined militant ranks this year in January.

BUDGAM: The pre-dawn gunfight that had started between militants and Joint Forces ended with the killing of a militant in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

The gunfight had erupted in Wagoora village of BK Bora Block of Budgam.

Police had tweeted that, two militants were trapped in the village.

Sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that firing stopped after the killing of a militant who reportedly has been identified as Wasim Qadir Mir of Shahbazpora Dangerpora Nowgam Srinagar. Police informed the family of Wasim but so for nobody reported at Police Control Room to identify the body.

Another source said that the slain militant is from Melhora village of Shopian.

A pistol and its six rounds, one magazine and 2 grenades were recovered from the spot of encounter.

The combing operation was underway till the filing of this report. (KNT)
